Stage 5: Growth and Sustainability

This stage looks at growth and what it means for teams. It asks teams to position themselves in the stages of growth and to consider their capacity for growth in future. Teams will reflect upon strategies for multiplication, recalibrating for growth and potentially stopping.

The Gathering finishes with a time of celebration and blessing.

After Gathering 5, team leaders are asked to have three key conversations in terms of their plans going forwards:

  • with their mentor
  • with their oversight
  • with the hub leader
Playbook

After the Gathering - please post photos of your teams' action plans into the WhatsApp group.

Debrief G5 - with your hub partner:

  • Assess each team's health - who needs more attention? Do you need to discuss with their oversight minister?
  • What insights from your prayer champion?

Mentors - please send them the Stage Handbook and remind them there is one more mentoring session. Mentors/mentees may decide themselves to continue.

Oversight Ministers - please send them the Stage Handbook to keep them up to date. It may be worth meeting with them as a group to debrief and celebrate - each one may be unaware of the others.

WhatsApp - Myriad will keep this WhatsApp group open unless you wish otherwise.

Next cohort - what are you thinking about a next cohort?

Gathering 5 Content

G5.0 Welcome & Worship

Frame the weekend, set expectations, invite participants fully into the journey.

Ensure key notices are shared.

Reminder of the Building Blocks as a key part of the Pathway.

G5.1 How is it with your soul?

As this stage ends the Myriad Pathway, the devotion is a reminder of the importance of soul care. It looks at the question Wesley posed, ‘How is it with your soul?’ and reminds leaders and teams to prioritise this question.

G5.2 Where are we up to?

This session allows each team to present where they are up to in the formation of their new Christian community.  Teams should refer back to the actions they determined at the previous gathering.

G5.3 Growth

This session introduces the idea that growth is natural, should the right conditions be in place. It also sets realistic expectations of growth patterns and asks teams to ascertain where they are at in the stages of growth and to consider anything that might be hindering growth.

G5.4 Worship & Prayer

This session will give participants an opportunity to bless one another, as they pray for one another.

‘The Blessing’ song can be used as prayer is happening and for corporate worship at the end of this session.

G5.5 Raising new leaders

This session explains that raising new leaders is a crucial aspect of discipleship and growth. It explores the culture needed to do this and some of the conditions that should be in place. Teams will consider who and how they can be developing new leaders in their context.

G5.6 What’s Next?

This session explains that raising new leaders is a crucial aspect of discipleship and growth. It explores the culture needed to do this and some of the conditions that should be in place. Teams will consider who and how they can be developing new leaders in their context.

G5.7 Action Planning & Report Back

This is a shorter action planning session than previous gatherings, reflecting the fact that this is the final gathering. Teams are asked to identify the one most important action they need to address. Teams will report back but there is no prayer in this session, as there will be a time for prayer in the next (final) session.

G5.8 Prayer Practice

In this session, participants will pray for each other,  in groups of 4-5 people from different teams. Having heard the final action planning, this time of prayer for each other concludes the pathway before the celebration.

G5.9 Celebration & Blessing

This session should allow for an appropriate form of celebration and commissioning for each team. This will be different for each hub and should reflect their context and tradition. Ideally, a regional/network leader, a  bishop or VIP should be invited to present and bless / commission teams.

G5.10 Roundup

Point out to the teams that although this is the last gathering (no Mid Stage 5), Stage 5 continues for the next 6 months. As such, there will be three important meetings for them to organise; with their oversight, with their mentor and with the hub leader. The hub leader will contact each team leader to meet. It is the responsibility of the team leader to organise the meetings with the oversight and their mentor.
