Listening to the Voice of the Lay Planter

The Myriad Pathway was born out of an initial research project called “Listening to the Voice of the Lay Planter”. Twenty lay-planters were identified and interviewed under consistent conditions, leading to a 56-page report covering ten lessons learned, ten recommendations, and eight implications for the wider church.
The research gave Myriad’s founders an evidence-based starting point: rather than guessing what lay-led planting teams needed, the project asked planters themselves what had helped them, what had held them back, and what they wished they’d known before they started. Those findings shaped the Myriad Pathway itself — the Learning Community gatherings, the mentoring relationships, and the emphasis on oversight from a sending church leader.
