About us
Founded in 2025 as an independent charity, playing our part in seeing the Church grow and our nation transformed.
Read our Statement of FaithOur Vision
At Myriad, we carry a vision that the Holy Spirit is reviving and renewing the Church to plant churches and make disciples.
Our primary work is preparing leaders for the church of tomorrow, through inspiring and equipping people to form new church communities that make disciples.
Our Conviction
We're convinced that thriving, multiplying churches start with a devotion to God's leading and well-supported leaders in community. So we pour ourselves into prayerful training and long-term support - helping leaders strengthen existing churches and form new ones - all so that many more people would come to know Jesus Christ as Lord. Leaders don't need another one-off course; they need people who will walk alongside them, pray with them, help them form new plans and stay the course as they lead.
We long to see these building blocks rooted deeply in every leader we serve:
A growing devotion to Jesus
Everything begins here. A leader who is not growing in their own love for and devotion to Jesus will, over time, build a community that reflects that absence. (John 15:4–5).
The priority of prayer
New church communities are formed and sustained through prayer. This building block challenges leaders to cultivate a genuine, sustained life of prayer that helps them discern God's will for themselves, their team, and their community, and then see it happen through the Spirit's enablement. (Ephesians 6:18; Matthew 6:9-13).
Leading as team
No leader can carry a community alone, and none should try. This building block reflects the deep conviction that leading and forming a new church community is a team endeavour — and that how a team is led, cared for, and developed matters as much as what it achieves. (Ecclesiastes 4:9–12; Exodus 18:17–23).
Living missionally
Mission is not a programme — it is a posture. This building block calls leaders to a way of life in which engagement with those outside the community is natural, intentional, and joyful — not as a strategy for growth, but as an expression of who God is and what his people are for. (John 20:21; Matthew 5:14–16).
Making disciples together
This building block holds together two things that must always go together: making disciples, and doing so in community. It keeps before leaders the vision of a whole community engaged in helping one another and those around them become more like Jesus.
(Matthew 28:18–20; 2 Timothy 2:2).
Our Story
In 2020, a group of church leaders from a range of traditions came together to pray and ask God what could make a difference to the declining UK church. In that space, the vision for 10,000 new churches, many of them led by ordinary, every day people, was formed.
Recognising that there was no standard pathway for these people to be supported as they planted churches, the development of Myriad began. Under the aegis of The Gregory Centre for Church Multiplication (CCX), our first step was to listen, and the landmark report Listening to the Voice of the Lay Planter became the foundation of all we do — a call to recognise and release the potential of ordinary people called by God to plant new church communities. The Myriad Pathway then developed into a 2.5 year journey for teams to do together, covering key topics essential to anyone planting a church.
We started training people in 2022 with a single hub and 10 pioneering teams and this has quickly multiplied: by mid 2026, 17 hubs were running across the country and further afield, supporting over 100 teams and more than 400 participants.
Our People
The Myriad team comprises seasoned trustees, a small yet dedicated core team and a wider group of expert facilitators and partners who are responsible for the delivery of training to Hubs.

“I am delighted to offer a wholehearted endorsement of the work of the Myriad Learning Pathway for teams of Lay Planters. Our 2023-5 cohort in Suffolk has been known as “Growing New” and has brought together diverse lay planting teams from rural and urban contexts.
Myriad’s learning community approach has given them the theological grounding, practical tools, and mutual encouragement needed to discern their call and step out in faith. It has also enabled them to grow in confidence, accountability, and vision as they explore how to share Jesus in ways that are culturally relevant, sustainable, and deeply relational.
Participant teams are planting fresh expressions of Church, cultivating new discipleship networks, engaging with the unchurched, and serving their communities in creative, context-sensitive ways.
The staff from Myriad have been outstanding in sharing wisdom from further afield and helping us to listen to the Holy Spirit for our own situations. We are particularly impressed at how keen they were to serve the diocese and our dispersed missional community “Lightwave” with flexibility to make sure the pathway was absolutely the best it could be for our context.
We have been able to use our local vocabulary and incorporate other learning such as Church Army’s Envoy Course and input on financial sustainability.
I commend this work with gratitude and anticipation for all that is still to come.”
Sally Gaze
Archdeacon for Rural Mission and Leader of the Lightwave Community
“Myriad has been a great encouragement to The Garden Network and the Diocese as a whole. Normalising what will surely be a key part of future ministry, walking alongside our lay leaders and providing tools to help in every context has been exactly what is needed.”
Dave Lloyd
Mission Development Officer, Diocese of Norwich
“Across the UK, God is calling everyday people to start new worshipping communities which reach new people in new and renewed ways. It has been great to see Myriad step into this space, equipping lay leaders to follow God's call on their lives to plant these new Christian communities. Having started under the umbrella of CCX, Myriad is now forming its own charity, the Myriad Collective. This is an exciting example of multiplication, which will no doubt multiply the impact of this crucial ministry. I want to offer every prayer and blessing for the Myriad Collective in this next exciting season.”
Ric Thorpe
Archbishop of Melbourne
“Myriad is a timely and strategic investment into the future of the Church in this country. Our engagement with running a Myriad hub has produced some of the most inspiring stories of church planting initiatives that I have ever known.
This has not been based on the headline-grabbing large investments that so often get the attention, but on encouraging, developing, releasing, and supporting the gifts of lay leaders already present in every congregation.”
Paul Harcourt
Vicar, All Saints Woodford Wells and former National Leader of New Wine
“Myriad has enabled learning for leaders and others involved in Garden Church BMO in the Diocese of Norwich. There has been a real commitment to mentoring and walking with lay leaders over a period of time, with an enabling approach focused on context.
The focus on developing people to develop others makes this a sustainable model with an ethos of listening and adapting to what the Spirit is saying to the churches involved.
The resources are inspiring and simple to use and it's good to have attention focused on mission and action, not only theory.”
Jane Steen
Bishop of Lynn
“When I first heard about Myriad my heart lit up. As a minister of a church with a bunch of potential church planters within my congregation, it was exactly the kind of resource which I had fruitlessly searched for several years previously. Having been a hub host for the full process of 2.5 years, I have not been disappointed.
The Myriad Pathway is well designed to help people journey towards planting and pioneering, without feeling forced or hurried, alongside a cohort which forms a genuine supportive, prayerful and collaborative community.
The content brings considered theological and ecclesiological reflection together with reflection from experienced practitioners on the process of beginning new worshipping communities. It allows participants to consider a wholistic approach attending to their personal care and development as well as the missional opportunities at hand.
Support from the Myriad team has been exemplary. They are a passionate, missional-minded, highly experienced and generous hearted.
I recommend Myriad to church leaders seeking to understand, support and release lay-leaders in mission and church multiplication. I recommend it to those discerning their own sense of call to the same.”
