Sally Gaze

Archdeacon for Rural Mission and Leader of the Lightwave Community

I am delighted to offer a wholehearted endorsement of the work of the Myriad Learning Pathway for teams of Lay Planters. Our 2023-5 cohort in Suffolk has been known as “Growing New” and has brought together diverse lay planting teams from rural and urban contexts.

Myriad’s learning community approach has given them the theological grounding, practical tools, and mutual encouragement needed to discern their call and step out in faith. It has also enabled them to grow in confidence, accountability, and vision as they explore how to share Jesus in ways that are culturally relevant, sustainable, and deeply relational.

Participant teams are planting fresh expressions of Church, cultivating new discipleship networks, engaging with the unchurched, and serving their communities in creative, context-sensitive ways.

The staff from Myriad have been outstanding in sharing wisdom from further afield and helping us to listen to the Holy Spirit for our own situations. We are particularly impressed at how keen they were to serve the diocese and our dispersed missional community “Lightwave” with flexibility to make sure the pathway was absolutely the best it could be for our context.

We have been able to use our local vocabulary and incorporate other learning such as Church Army’s Envoy Course and input on financial sustainability.

I commend this work with gratitude and anticipation for all that is still to come.
