Stage 3

Disciple-Making Pathway

Growing a community of disciples requires a clear, accessible way for people to move from first contact to active, maturing discipleship. Stage 3 focuses on designing that pathway — exploring different approaches and models, and shaping a coherent process that fits the community’s context.

G3.0

Welcome & Worship

Use these slides to open the Gathering, positioning Stage 3 on the Myriad pathway and reminding teams of the Building Blocks.

G3.1

Highly Exalted

A short devotion reminding teams that God is transcendent, inviting a response of reverent worship, submission and confidence in His power.

G3.2

Where are we up to?

This session allows each team to present the developments in forming their new church community. Teams should refer back to the actions they determined at the previous gathering.

G3.3

Discipling Pathways

Rather than considering ‘church’ as a single event, this session explores the new church community as a series of ‘inward’, ‘onward’ and ‘outward’ practices and activities that cohere into a pathway for making disciples of Jesus.

G3.4

Worship & Prayer

This session reflects upon the names of God in Scripture to facilitate worship and prayer at the beginning of the day.

G3.5

Pathway Ideas

Explores four disciple-making approaches teams can use to build an effective pathway: serving at the point of need, personal witness, a culture of invitation, and accessible worship.

G3.6

Pathway Scenarios

A mixed-group discussion activity using four scenarios that highlight common ways discipling pathways can prove insufficient to take new people on a journey of faith.

G3.7

Prayer Practice

Each gathering introduces teams to a different prayer practice: in this session teams pray about opportunities and opposition that they may be facing in forming their new church community.

G3.8

Action Planning & Report back

Teams decide on 3-5 realistic actions for the next 6 months and nominate a spokesperson to report back to the wider cohort, followed by prayer.

G3.9

Roundup

This closing session wraps up the gathering with feedback, reminders about mentoring and oversight, and the dates of Mid Stage 3 and Gathering 4.

Flags & Footprints

Focuses on the role of prayer in forming a new Christian community — exploring the analogy of flags (visible witness) and footprints (spiritual authority).
